IT’S VITA TIME!

(Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

Yes, you read it right - it's time to start thinking of tax preparation and volunteering.

This year at VITA we are planning something unique and, of course, fun. We are setting up a playroom for the children of volunteers and clients. The playroom will serve two purposes: 1) aide in getting more volunteers and 2) alleviate stress for those clients that bring their children (and the volunteers that help them). We usually prepare taxes at Stanford Settlement every Saturday in February and March.

In order for this to be successful, we will need volunteers to help staff the playroom. So if you are volunteering with VITA and know any teenagers who are good with kids, please invite them to help as well.  Not only will they be contributing to a great cause, but they can also earn community service credits (make sure they bring their school’s reporting form).

We also welcome college students as VITA volunteers, so please share this information with any college students who may be interested in volunteering as well as gaining practical tax-related experience.

To volunteer for VITA and be added to the list to receive additional information about training and VITA service dates, send an email with your name and contact information to David Bell, Community Service Director.

I hope that you are all as excited as we are for the start of this year’s VITA season.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at our upcoming training January 26th
