Who we are: The City of Berkeley
Auditor’s Office has been identified as a “Best Practices” performance
audit shop in a survey conducted by the Association of Local Government
Auditors (ALGA). We were also awarded the highest rating possible for
quality and professionalism during our peer review. We are committed
to the professional development of staff and provide full reimbursement
for the continuing education needed to maintain required professional
designations. The Berkeley City Auditor is elected, ensuring our independence
from City Management and Council. Audit reports are provided to the
City Council and to the public and are posted on the City Auditor’s
website http://www.ci.berkeley.ca.us
What we do: Staff in the Performance Audit Division of the City of Berkeley Auditor’s Office conduct audits of City of Berkeley operations in accordance with Government Audit Standards. Audits of City programs, contracts, and revenue may address program effectiveness, efficiency, or equity, adequacy of control systems, information systems issues, compliance with legislation, policies and procedures, or contract terms, as well as the accuracy of financial records and reports.
